First Lady Jill Biden took delivery of the official White House Christmas tree just before the Thanksgiving holiday — but her announcement about where the tree had come from raised eyebrows.
Biden explained that the massive Fraser Fir had come from a family-owned Christmas tree farm in North Carolina — and that the family had nicknamed it “Tree-mendous” when it remained standing after thousands of their trees were lost during Hurricane Helene.

“Their farm is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, a region that was recently devastated by Hurricane Helene,” Biden said of the more-than-60-year-old farm. “The Cartner family lost thousands of trees to the storm. But this one remained standing—and they named it ‘Tremendous’ for the extraordinary hope that it represents.”
But critics were not impressed with Biden’s remarks, arguing that if the tree was a symbol of “extraordinary hope,” maybe the political elites should have left it where it stood.
“This is the sort of tone deafness that cost the Democrats this year. They cut down a tree that survived Helene and want you to know it ‘remained standing’ until the government showed up ready to help,” Erick Erickson posted.

“lol …They really hacked down a tree from a devastated area and shipped it to Washington for the elites to enjoy. It’s poetic,” RedState’s Bonchie added.
The Federalist’s Sean Davis asked, “You were able to go to North Carolina to cut down one of their trees for your party, but you couldn’t manage to help the actual people stranded after the floods?”
“So, let me get this straight. The one tree that remained symbolically standing in an area on the receiving end of the unprecedented destruction, having earned the nickname ‘Treemendous’ for its fortitude in surviving and standing as a symbol of resilience, was cut down and dragged to the White House to be put on temporary display before getting tossed aside as, for lack of a better term, garbage?” another posted. “Who the hell thought that was a good idea? Speaking of symbolism, this move by Team Deep State is very on-brand.”
