Former British Prime Minister: Russia Would Not Have Invaded Ukraine If Trump Was President

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has praised former President Donald Trump in a series of interviews over the last week for the strength that America projected overseas under his leadership.

In one interview, Johnson says that Trump is correct when he claims that Russia would never have invaded Ukraine if he had been president.

“I happen to believe that when Donald Trump says that had he been President in 2022, there would have been no Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Johnson said. “My view is that is a credible assertion. I really do think that’s credible.”

In a separate interview, Johnson went into greater depth about why he believes that Trump is tremendous on the foreign policy front.

“He stood up to Bashar Al Assad, the Syrian dictator,” he said. “He bombed him when he used chemical weapons — chemical weapons against his own people. Donald Trump hit back and Assad never used chemical weapons again. We talk about Iran. Trump took out Qassem Soleimani, the head of the IRGC Quds Force. Iran really went quiet after that.”

“And when it came to Putin, a lot of people say Trump is a big buddy of Putin,” he continued. “Well, I didn’t see that when I was foreign secretary. I saw Trump expel 60 Russian diplomats after they poisoned some people as you may remember, [when] the Russians poisoned people in our country with chemical weapons, with Novichok.”

Johnson noted that Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins, powerful shoulder-fired missiles, that Ukraine used to prevent Russia from rapidly overtaking the entire country.

“Everybody says he’s friendly with Putin, I don’t see that,” he said. “He gave the Ukrainians those shoulder-launched Javelin missiles, which were very important to Ukraine in the defense of Kyiv and routing Putin’s troops. So I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I have hope that Trump will, if Trump is elected, if Donald Trump is elected, that he will be the strong president overseas that I saw.”
