In a powerful and timely ad slamming his opponent as Iranian missiles rained down on Israel, Pennsylvania GOP senatorial candidate Dave McCormick took aim at incumbent Democrat Senator Bob Casey for his support for the Iranian regime that fired roughly 200 missiles at Israel on Tuesday.
The race between McCormick — a Bronze star recipient who served in the 82nd Airborne in Iraq during the Gulf War — and Casey has been tightening up considerably in the last week. Earlier in September, polls showed Casey with a 4-5 point lead, but the two most recent polls, Emerson and Trafalgar, showed Casey leading by 2 points and one point, respectively.
“Bob Casey was the deciding vote for the 2015 Iran Deal, unlocking billions for Tehran to build up its military arsenal and underwrite terrorist proxies,” McCormick noted on X. “Casey said the deal would make Israel ‘secure.’ Now, Israel is under siege once again.”
The video for the ad showed missiles headed toward Israel as Fox News Chief Foreign Correspondent Trey Yingst said, “There is a ballistic missile attack unfolding as we speak against Israel. It has been launched from Iranian territory.”
“Bob Casey took the pressure off Iran and gave them billions,” the screen stated, then showed Casey saying in 2015, “The agreement enhances our national security.” “This agreement enhances that deterrent effect and also enhances the security of Israel and the region.” “The region, including Israel, will be more secure with the agreement.”
In 2018, asked if he thought the deal should have been scrapped, Casey stated, “I think you could have voted against the agreement originally and still be in favor of keeping it in place.”
On Sunday, McCormick praised Israel’s recent military successes, saying, “What’s happened in the last couple of weeks has been a brilliant military operation. Make no mistake: What’s happening with Israel is an array of forces underwritten by Iran that is a fight for the very future of Israel’s existence.”
He also noted Casey’s endorsement of U.S. Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA), saying, “She is an avowed anti-Semite. And Bob Casey kept his endorsement.”
