Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said on Wednesday her office received a “very serious shooting threat,” an announcement that came after a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at his golf club in Florida over the weekend.
“My office has received a very serious shooting threat,” Luna said in a post to her personal account on X. “This division and hate campaign against Republicans is going to get someone killed. I will not be threatened, intimidated, or bow down to those using violence as a means to push their agenda. We will win.”
Luna added, “America is the greatest country in the world. I will continue to fight for the wonderful people who have elected me as well as those across the country that feel that they are being left behind. Please keep my family in your prayers. Hate has no place here.”
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) responded to Luna, saying, “We are right there with you. It’s OUT OF CONTROL.” Social media influencer Rogan O’Handley, better known as “DC Draino,” said the shooting threat “just days after” Trump nearly got assassinated was “unacceptable.” He added, “They’re trying to kill anyone who actually gives a damn about saving this country.”
Luna, an Air Force veteran who was first elected to Congress in 2022 with Trump’s endorsement, is running for re-election to continue representing Florida’s 13th Congressional District for another two-year term. She is poised to face off against Democrat challenger Whitney Fox in the November election.
With her congressional account on X, Luna expounded upon the situation with a follow-up post.
“Over the last few weeks, I have received an increasing number of threats and doxxing attacks,” Luna said. “An online page was encouraging strangers to send threatening packages to my home. This weekend, it escalated to a very serious shooting threat, and we are taking every necessary step to ensure the safety of my family, staff, and our district. Law enforcement is actively investigating the matter, and I am grateful for their swift response and ongoing efforts to prevent any potential harm. My office will provide more details after law enforcement concludes its investigation.”
Luna added, “The left continues to push a radical agenda of hate and rhetoric that leads to violence. Just hours before this threat to my office, we saw how there was a second assassination attempt on President Trump’s life. We will NOT be threatened or intimidated by those using violence to push their narrative and try and win an election. They keep directing hatred and violence toward Republicans. We will never stop fighting for our great country and ensure those who feel unheard have a voice in Washington. Please keep us in your prayers.”
In a separate post, Luna criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and the Left for making inflammatory statements directed at Trump and other Republicans. Harris, the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee, and others have faced increased scrutiny for describing Trump as being a danger to freedoms and democracy in light of the multiple threats to the former president’s life.
“The continued rhetoric by Kamala Harris and the radical left about President Trump and Republicans being a ‘threat’ has to STOP,” Luna said. “The fact that it continues even after the first (crazy that we have to say first) attempt on his life is disgusting.”
