Harris Camp Mocked Over Attempt To Make Trump’s Prediction Of Market ‘Crash’ Look Foolish

Vice President Kamala Harris‘ campaign took some lumps on Monday over a bid to mock former President Donald Trump for warning years ago that there would be a market “crash” if Joe Biden was elected president.

The “Kamala HQ” account on X, formerly “Biden HQ” prior to Biden dropping out last month, shared a clip in May that showed Trump speaking with Sheryl Atkinson on her program “Full Measure” about the economy in 2020 before that year’s election.

“If Biden gets in, the market will crash,” Trump said in the clip. The X account, then associated with Biden’s now-defunct campaign, sought to counter Trump’s statement by noting how “stock market has reached the highest levels ever recorded in history under President Biden.”

However, in recent days, the U.S. stock markets have tumbled. The Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq indexes plummeted in what The Wall Street Journal called a “global selloff” during the morning hours on Monday after stocks also dropped last Friday amid concerns about a recession.

“Trump was right, AGAIN. #KamalaCrash,” Donald Trump Jr., the former president’s eldest son, responded on X.

“How fast will they delete this>?” asked conservative podcast host Benny Johnson.

“Checking in, @KamalaHQ,” quipped the Republican National Committee.

Others responded to the clip, posting variations of, “This didn’t age well,” among other reactions. “Just like Kamala’s RADICAL record, this post has aged POORLY! #KamalaCrash,” Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), a Trump ally, posted to X.

Biden ended his campaign a couple weeks ago as fellow Democrats urged him to drop out after a fumbling debate performance spurred concerns about his mental capacity and electability. Harris, whom Biden then endorsed, recently clinched the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

Although the major U.S. stock indexes have been struggling of late, they have not lost all the gains made in the last year, let alone in the past four years. Still, Trump warned the economic pain may get worse unless he is elected to a second term in the White House.

Trump posted on Monday in all capital letters to his social media platform, Truth Social, that voters can choose “TRUMP PROSPERITY, OR THE KAMALA CRASH & GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024, NOT TO MENTION THE PROBABILITY OF WORLD WAR lll IF THESE VERY STUPID PEOPLE REMAIN IN OFFICE. REMEMBER, TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!!!”
