Trump: Putin ‘Probably’ Involved In Navalny’s Death

Former President Donald Trump said during an interview over the weekend that he believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “probably” involved in the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Trump made the remarks during a Sunday interview with Howard Kurtz on Fox News’ “Media Buzz” when asked about Navalny’s mysterious death earlier this year inside a Russian prison.

“Do you believe Vladimir Putin has some responsibility for the death of Alexei Navalny?” Kurtz asked Trump.

“I don’t know, but perhaps I mean, possibly I could say, ‘probably’,” Trump said. “I don’t know. He’s a young man, so statistically he’d be alive for a long time. If you go by the insurance numbers, he’d be alive for another 40 years. So something happened that was unusual.”

Kurtz noted how the Kremlin was accused of trying to poison Navalny in the past and that when he went back to Russia he was jailed — and following his death, officials would not release the body.

“How could anything like that happen without Putin and high ranking Kremlin officials sanctioning it?” Kurtz asked.

“Well, I don’t know, you certainly can’t say for sure, but certainly that would look like something very bad happened, right?” Trump responded.
