Staff Looking At Whether James Biden ‘Told The Truth’ In Deposition, House GOP Investigators Say

House staffers are poring over the transcript of last week’s deposition with President Joe Biden‘s younger brother, James Biden, to track down inconsistencies with assertions made by other witnesses, top Republican investigators said on Sunday.

The lead impeachment investigator, Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY), appeared with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) on “Sunday Morning Futures” for an interview with Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo to provide an update on the corruption-focused impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

Although James Biden denied in his opening statement that Joe Biden had any involvement in his business activities, Comer said two witnesses with business ties to the Biden family, Devon Archer and Tony Bobulinski, and other associates have made claims that clash with what James Biden testified.

“They all say the same thing, that the Biden family capitalized off of Joe Biden. And with Jim Biden, he said some things that aren’t consistent with other people who we have interviewed, with other amounts of evidence that we have in the form of text messages and e-mails,” Comer said. “And, right now, as we speak, Maria, our staff is going over, reviewing all that to determine whether or not Jim Biden, in fact, told the truth in his transcribed interview.”

Jordan said his “big takeaway” from the deposition with Jim Biden was “who are you going to believe? Jim Biden, who multiple times has changed his story, Jim Biden, who had multiple business ventures that failed, Jim Biden, who had multiple people he still owes hundreds of thousands of dollars to, or Tony Bobulinski, whose story has not changed, who’s been a successful business guy, and who came forward and said certain things that Jim Biden just totally disagreed with?”

He added that Jim Biden said his brother Joe Biden “never met with Tony Bobulinski. Tony Bobulinski has said that for four years and been forward about that. So I don’t think Jim Biden was necessarily square with us in this interview. And, as Chairman Comer mentioned, that’s why the staff is going back through the transcript and figuring out exactly what he said and where that disagrees with what we know to be true.”

While President Joe Biden has insisted the impeachment inquiry is a political charade, House investigators are expected to press forward with deposing Hunter Biden, the president’s son, on Wednesday.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, said James Biden “explained repeatedly and unequivocally that Joe Biden has ‘never had any involvement or any direct or indirect financial interest in his business activities,’ and that Joe Biden never took any official action to benefit his business ventures.”

He also argued that James Biden’s deposition corroborated “a mountain of evidence” showing no wrongdoing by the president and called on Republicans to end the impeachment inquiry.
