Biden Appears To Forget He Loves Ice Cream In Softball Seacrest Interview

President Joe Biden appeared to forget — at least momentarily — about his well-documented love for ice cream during a brief exchange with host Ryan Seacrest on “Dick Clark’s New Tear’s Rockin’ Eve.”

Both the president and First Lady Jill Biden chatted with Seacrest during the holiday special on Sunday evening, and the former “American Idol” host lobbed a series of softball questions their way.

At one point, Seacrest asked the president to share some of the holiday foods he had been enjoying as he had traveled first to Camp David and then to St. Croix, the U.S. Virgin Islands, over the last week.

“I’ve been eating everything that’s put in front of me!” Biden replied. “I’ve eaten pasta, which I love. Eaten a lot of chicken, chicken parmesan, I’ve been eating all Italian foods basically —”

“And ice cream,” Jill Biden reminded him, interrupting.

“And ice cream,” the president repeated, then added, “Chocolate chip ice cream.”

Biden’s love for ice cream is very well-documented — and has often drawn criticism when he has stopped to enjoy the sweet treat even as crises loom around him.

During one such instance in October of 2022, the president touted his “strong as hell” economy between bites of ice cream — despite the fact that inflation had raised the price of the dairy treat by double digits.

“Just one more economic question,” a reporter pressed the president. “Are you concerned about the strength of the dollar right now?”

“I’m not concerned about the strength of the dollar, I’m concerned about the rest of the world,” Biden replied as he attempted to chew. “Does that make sense? Our economy is strong as hell. The internal — inflation is worldwide, it’s worse off everywhere else than it is in the United States. So the problem is a lack of economic growth and sound policy in other countries, not so much ours.”

“It’s worldwide inflation, that’s a consequence of —” Biden then walked away from the reporter without finishing the sentence.
