Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson indicated this week that he believes former President Donald Trump should have participated in the first Republican Party presidential debate and that both Trump and President Joe Biden are too old to be president.
Carlson made the remarks during an interview with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy this week.
“I thought Trump should have done, I thought he should’ve done the debate,” Portnoy said.
“Yeah,” Carlson agreed.
“For the betterment of the country, I think he should be on the debate stage,” Portnoy added.
“I kind of agree,” Carlson responded. “I like the debates, personally.”
Carlson then took an apparent shot at his former employer, saying that the problem with the organizations that host the debates is that they are “rotten and corrupt.”
Portnoy later added that he believes there has been “a shift where, internally, maybe the Democrats don’t think [Biden] can win and they’re setting the stage to do somebody else.”
“To be honest, I think both Trump and Biden are too old,” he continued. “I don’t think you should be able to be that old to be president.”
Carlson interrupted to say, “I agree 100%.”
Trump is 77, Biden is 80.
The interview comes after Carlson interviewed Trump and aired the footage during the debate last week.
