HuffPost White House correspondent S. V. Date used the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks to claim that former President Donald Trump was worse than “Osama bin Biden.”
Date laid out his argument in a post on X, saying, “Twenty-two years ago this morning, a foreign terrorist murdered nearly 3,000 Americans. But he could not come close to ending or even hurting our democracy. That attack arrived 19 years, three months and 26 days later, at the hands of an ersatz American.”
Date added a follow-up post, continuing his attack on Trump and flubbing the name of 9/11 terrorist Osama bin Laden in the proceess.
“Osama bin Biden, after all, had never taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the United States. Our 45th president had,” he said. “Ironically, the locus of his assault was the same building that was saved by the bravery of the passengers on United 93.”
“WH Correspondent for HuffPost downplays 9/11 to talk about Jan 6th,” John Hasson responded.
“22 years ago, people had to choose between jumping out of a building or burning alive,” another pushed back. “This is not the same thing as some idiots breaking a fence and inconveniencing lawmakers for a few hours. Anyone comparing 9/11 to J6 should be f***ing ashamed of themselves. #NeverForget.”
“It’s my favorite time of year: The time when we recognize and celebrate delusional Lib September 11 takes,” @BravoKiloActual added.
“White House correspondent for HuffPo having a totally normal one,” another posted.
“What is it that makes a**hats like this, post something on this day?” another asked. “We get it, you hate Trump, but tweets like this energizes the division even more. Pompous a**.”
“Oh great, I get to dust this one off,” Damin Toell added, sharing a screenshot of an exchange with Date from May of 2021.
“United 93 was intended to crash into the Capitol,” Toell said. “You think January 6th was worse than that?”
Date’s response? “1000 percent worse.”
