Report: Biden Administration Topping Its Own Limits On Releasing Immigrants Into U.S.

The Biden administration has reportedly broken its own limits on allowing immigrants into the U.S. even after massively expanding legal pathways into the country.

Customs and Border Protection officials on the U.S. southern border allowed into the country an average of 1,473 immigrants a day through the CBP One app during the month of July, according to records obtained by The Washington Free Beacon. The limit, which has been raised twice since its 1,000-a-day limit set in May, currently sits at 1,450 per day.

The CBP One app, launched in October 2020, has been substantially expanded under the Biden administration. It makes up a significant number of immigrants released legally into the United States on parole, however, it is not asylum seeking immigrants’ only option for immigration parole.

In addition to the app, the Biden administration has expanded sponsorship programs for certain countries. Under one such program, 30,000 slots are available monthly for immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

Reporting suggesting the Biden administration is ignoring its own limits on parole under the CBP One app comes as the United States is facing a historic crisis on the U.S. southern border. Millions of immigrants have crossed the southern border in the past two years, flooding communities and straining public and private resources.

New York City has run out of space after receiving a tiny number of the immigrants, mostly out of buses paid for by the state of Texas, that have crossed over the southern border. Democratic Mayor Eric Adams has approved spending for fliers to be passed out along the border notifying incoming immigrants that the city cannot house them.

“It’s not going to get any better,” Adams said on Monday. “From this moment on, it’s downhill. There is no more room.”

Images from New York City taken early Monday showed dozens of immigrants sleeping outside of the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The hotel had been shuttered for several years until Adams announced in May that it would be reopened to serve as an arrival center for thousands of immigrants arriving in the city from the southern border.

“I can assure you that this city is not going to look like other cities where there are tents up and down every street,” Adams pledged on Monday.

The Biden administration has touted a “70%” reduction in illegal immigration since Title 42 was repealed in May. Critics have alleged that the administration has not curbed immigration into the United States so much as greatly expanded legal pathways and funneled thousands of immigrants through ports of entry instead.

The Biden administration’s claims “are deceitful,” Lora Ries, director of the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation, told The Daily Wire last month. “The number of illegal and inadmissible aliens coming into the country is still just as high, but the administration is using a shell game and sending people through ports of entry instead of between ports of entry, and then declaring that an improvement on the border.”
