Ted Cruz Highlights How Details Of One Of The IRS Whistleblowers Suggests He Has No Political Motive For Coming Forward

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) highlighted during a recent episode of his podcast how the identity of one of the IRS whistleblowers who has come forward to allege misconduct during the criminal investigation of President Joe Biden’s son undermines any claims that the whistleblower is coming forward for political reasons.

Cruz noted that one of the IRS whistleblowers told Congress that he is a gay man married to a man and that he is a Democrat.

The senator said that the deal Hunter Biden got was a “sweetheart deal” that the Biden administration “desperately, desperately, desperately wants to close the door” on.

“At this point, the statements between Merrick Garland and David Weiss on one side, and the two IRS whistleblowers on the other side are entirely in conflict,” he said. “The whistleblowers, as I’ve noted, we have no reason to think they’re lying. One of them is a gay Democrat who’s married to a man.”

“Both of them are career IRS employees, neither of them have any indication that they’re in any way, shape, or form Republican,” he continued. “And they’ve come over and risked their entire careers by calling out what appears to be a pattern of felonies.”

Hunter Biden reportedly reached a deal with Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss last month that will see him plead guilty to failing to pay about $100,000 in taxes for 2017 and for failing to pay a similar amount for 2018. The tax charges Hunter faces are misdemeanors.

He is expected to not face any jail time and to be given two years of probation.

The 53-year-old will also reportedly enter a diversion program upon admitting the illegal purchase of a firearm in 2018. The gun charge could be revoked from his record upon completion of the diversion program.
