Nancy Mace Responds After Her Racy Remarks At Prayer Breakfast Cause Stir Online

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) responded Thursday afternoon to video clips circulating on social media of her referencing her sex life at a prayer breakfast, shrugging it off as a joke.

The viral remarks came during her speech at the 13th Annual South Carolina Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., which was hosted by Republican presidential candidate Tim Scott (R-SC).

“When I woke up this morning at 7, I was getting picked up at 7:45. Patrick, my fiancé, tried to pull me by my waist over this morning in bed. And I was like, ‘No, baby, we don’t got time for that this morning,'” Mace said. “I gotta get to the prayer breakfast, and I gotta be on time.”

“A little TMI,” Mace added. “He can wait, I’ll see him later tonight. But, I was here early today for you, Tim, and I think everybody was here early for you today.”

Mace’s remarks created a buzz online across the spectrum of the political Right, with many expressing some shock that she said what she did at a prayer breakfast.

“She went to a prayer breakfast hosted by a Senator who amazingly hasn’t been able to find a wife and says she declined sex from someone who is not her husband,” said BlazeTV host Steve Deace. “Goodness, this party can’t even pander properly anymore.”

Mace responded on Twitter to political commentator Jack Posobiec, who wrote: “Nancy Mace tells a prayer breakfast that she turned down sex this morning so she could get there on time.”

“I go to church because I’m a sinner not a saint!” Mace said. “Glad those in attendance, including @SenatorTimScott and my pastor, took this joke in stride. Pastor Greg and I will have extra to talk about on Sunday.”
