Marjorie Taylor Greene Moves To Impeach FBI Director Christopher Wray

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announced on Tuesday that she introduced articles of impeachment against FBI Director Christoper Wray.

The articles of impeachment, published by the Daily Caller, accuse Wray of failing to uphold his oath and losing the trust of U.S. citizens to “faithfully execute the laws” of the United States.

“Under Wray’s watch, the FBI has intimidated, harassed, and entrapped American citizens that have been deemed enemies of the Biden regime. As such, Director Wray has turned the FBI into [President] Joe Biden and [Attorney General] Merrick Garland’s personal police force,” Greene said in a statement.

The FBI declined to comment to The Daily Wire.

It was not immediately clear whether Greene’s bid to remove Wray from office would garner sufficient support in the House, which is narrowly controlled by Republicans. Even if it did succeed, conviction would be unlikely in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

In her statement and articles of impeachment, Greene highlighted several grievances against Wray, including the treatment of anti-abortion activists and Catholics, investigative tactics employed against former President Donald Trump, and the criminal investigation into the president’s son Hunter Biden.

Wray and the FBI itself have increasingly become top targets of criticism among Republicans ever since the 2016 election. Some have even called for the bureau to be defunded or even disbanded.

The FBI released a statement on Monday, following a report from special counsel John Durham criticizing its Trump-Russia inquiry, stressing how current leadership “already implemented dozens of corrective actions” and insisting that the report “reinforces the importance of ensuring the FBI continues to do its work with the rigor, objectivity, and professionalism the American people deserve and rightly expect.”

Wray has led the bureau since 2017, after being nominated by Trump and confirmed by the Senate, following the high-profile firing of Director James Comey.

Greene, who is in her second term in the House, previously introduced articles of impeachment against Biden and co-sponsored articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, efforts which have not been successful.

Earlier on Tuesday, Greene announced articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, accusing him of “totally” subverting the “justice system of the United States and facilitated the explosion of violent crime in Washington D.C. by refusing to prosecute violent crimes.”
