Radio talk show host Howard Stern said that former "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart would win if he ran for president.
The shock jock made the comments on his show Monday while addressing who should run if President Joe Biden decides not to run for re-election in 2024.
“His name is Jon Stewart,” Stern said.
“That guy is so f***iing smart, and bright, and also witty and really measured when he takes on a debate,” he added. “He knows how to talk. And you know, he would work his ass off to be a good president."
Stern went on to claim that the 60-year-old comedian is likable enough to win.
“I’m telling you, he could also win, because people like Jon Stewart,” he continued. “He owes it to his country."
He also praised Stewart for criticizing Congress members in 2019 over the 9/11 survivor fund.
“The guy would be terrific and I think he’d do it," Stern concluded.
While many backed Stewart in his attacks on members of Congress, Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky pushed back at the time and accused the comedian of lying in order to smear politicians.
"I know Jon Stewart, and Jon Stewart is sometimes funny and sometimes informed, but in this case he's neither funny nor informed," Paul said.
"So he's really not informed, and his name-calling just sort of exposes him as a left-winger, part of the left-wing mob that really isn't using his brain and is willing to call people names. It's really kind of disgusting," Paul added. "The BS meter is through the roof!"
