Rep. Dan Crenshaw Apologizes For Calling McCarthy Holdouts ‘Terrorists’ After Major Backlash (VIDEO)

Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) on Sunday walked back his comments that McCarthy holdouts were terrorists.

Recall, 20 Republican ‘rebels’ refused to vote for McCarthy in last week’s vote for Speaker of the House.

The speaker vote went 15 rounds before McCarthy won.

The Republican ‘rebels’ made demands of McCarthy before finally supporting him late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

On Wednesday Dan Crenshaw called the GOP holdouts ‘terrorists‘ after McCarthy lost in the 6th round.

“That’s why those of us are saying like, look, you pushed us into this corner. So now we’re now we’re saying we won’t vote for anyone but McCarthy. That’s why we’re saying it, because we cannot let the terrorists win. That’s basically what’s happening. And I do have to go…” Crenshaw said on the Guy Benson show.

Crenshaw ‘apologized’ on Sunday during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“Look, things get heated and things get said. Obviously, to people who took offense by that, it’s pretty obvious that it’s meant as a turn of phrase,” Crenshaw said to CNN’s Jake Tapper.

“To the extent that I have colleagues that were offended by it, I sincerely apologize to them. I don’t want them to think I actually believe they’re terrorists. It’s clearly a turn of phrase that you use in what is an intransigent negotiation,” Crenshaw said.
