The United States is facing historically high gasoline prices. Before Putin’s war with Ukraine, Americans were paying more at the pump as gas prices rose under Biden. Yet Biden refuses to take responsibility. According to Biden, this is “Putin’s Price Hike,” and Putin is the reason for the skyrocketing prices. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) blasted Biden and Democrats’ “twisted thinking” on U.S. energy policy that has caused gasoline prices to skyrocket to all-time highs in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average exceeds $4.25 a gallon on Wednesday. A year ago, the average was $2.79; a month ago, the average was about $3.47, based on AAA data.
During a press conference on Wednesday, McCarthy said “the main reason Americans are paying so much is bad domestic policies,” while acknowledging that oil is an international market.
“These aren’t Putin prices,” he said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who launched an invasion of Ukraine nearly two weeks ago. “They’re President Biden’s prices.”

This is pure gaslighting from Biden that blame for rising gas prices only reside with the Russians: "I'm going to do everything I can to minimize Putin's price hike here at home…We're taking steps to ensure the reliable supply of global energy. On Tuesday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy criticized Biden for shuttering the Keystone XL pipeline last year.
Democrats want you to believe gas prices are only spiking because of the Russian oil ban. But the fact is prices have been climbing since the day President Biden was sworn in.

Of course, this video of Biden was well before Putin invaded Ukraine, but will Biden blame Putin for this as well?

“Democrats want to blame surging prices on Russia. But the truth is, they’re out of touch policies are why we are here in the first place. On Day 1, the President canceled the Keystone Pipeline and stopped new oil and gas leases on federal lands and waters. Then, he gave the green light to Putin’s pipeline,” McCarthy said.
“If we want to lower prices and protect the environment, we must prioritize American energy independence. We have the natural resources under our feet. We have the best workers in the world: drilling the wells, building the pipelines, running the rigs, and extracting the gas in the cleanest way possible,” he said.
“We just need politicians who will get out of the way,” he added.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy: “Democrats are creating a fake choice between sanctioning Russia and lowering gas prices. In their twisted thinking, Americans must feel the pain at the pump in order to punish Putin. It doesn’t have to be this way.”

McCarthy stated in the video below: “We could be energy independent and we could be energy dominant. Not only could we supply all the energy for America but we could supply it for the world. That would make America stronger and the world safer,” says @GOPLeader

“If you care about the environment, American natural gas is 41% cleaner than Russian natural gas. So why wouldn’t we want to supply that to America and Europe?” says @GOPLeader

President Biden complains about skyrocketing gas prices, yet he remains hostage to the green-energy donors whose policies guarantee higher prices.@POTUS is enabling Putin’s energy leverage even as he claims the opposite. pic.twitter.com/bqpuzt1CXg

President Joe Biden is being disengenous with the American people trying to blame Putin for the increase in gas prices Americans have seen for months now. Long before Putin’s war with Ukraine, American were paying more at the pump because gas prices were on the rise under Biden.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz tweeted a response to Biden:
This is a flat-out lie. Gas prices have increased 48% under Biden—BEFORE RUSSIA INVADED UKRAINE. Biden did that. That’s bc Biden: – killed Keystone pipeline. – froze federal leases. – shut down ANWR All, while Biden waived sanctions on Putin’s pipeline.

Harmeet K. Dhillon had a good point about even if it were true that the rise in prices was because of the Ukraine situation:
Think about the fact that liberals are trying to tell you that your gas prices and inflation are way up because of the Ukraine situation. It's a complete lie. But even if it were true, what does that say about Biden's energy policies, making us so vulnerable to Putin's thuggery?

I suppose we should look the other way of the hypocrisy of the Biden administration reportedly being willing to engage with Venezuela and Iran on potential oil imports instead of Russia, despite those countries also being governed by oppressive leaders. What about American oil production and refining, allowing America to become energy independent again, creating American jobs, and possibly providing oil to other countries to boost our economy?
