Trio of thugs reportedly attack young mother, pistol whipping her in the head then pounding her car with baseball bats — all while her two children are in the vehicle

Three men brutally attacked a young mother in Harlem on Friday evening — and in full view of her children, WABC-TV reported.

What are the details?

The New York City Police Department told TheBlaze that the 22-year-old female victim exited her vehicle in front of 1663 Park Avenue when three unknown males approached her.

Police said one of the males displayed a gun and handed it to a second male who then used it to strike the victim on the left side of her head, causing swelling and bruising.

The males then then struck the victim's vehicle multiple times with bats causing substantial damage, police said.

What's more, two children were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Police on Wednesday would not confirm to TheBlaze that the victim is the children's mother.

The victim was able to drive away to a safe location, police said, and the males "fled to parts unknown." Emergency medical personnel responded and treated the victim on scene for minor injuries, police said.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the culprits and provided images of three males they believe are connected to the assault.

The reported incident took place only two blocks from the NYPD's 25th Precinct located at 120 E. 119th Street.

The motive for the attack remained unclear Wednesday morning, according to the New York Post. A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered.

Anything else?

News of the attack comes as authorities already are dealing with other brutal assaults in the city.

Police recently arrested a 25-year-old repeat offender said to have stabbed a Manhattan woman more than 40 times with her own kitchen knife.

In fact Friday night's alleged attack took place just blocks from where police reportedly opened fire on a vehicle Tuesday during a traffic stop after the driver attempted to ram two officers, Fox News said.

The Post, citing NYPD statistics released last week, reported that major crimes in Harlem’s five police precincts are up 29.5% this year compared to the same period last year.
