Lawrence A. Tabak, D.D.S., Ph.D., was named the Acting Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), effective December 20, 2021. He will take over for Dr. Francis Collins who has been in the post for over a decade.
Dr. Tabak has served as the Principal Deputy Director and the Deputy Ethics Counselor of NIH since August 2010.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra today announced that Lawrence A. Tabak, D.D.S., Ph.D., the principal deputy director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), will serve as the acting director of NIH effective December 20, 2021…
…“Dr. Tabak’s long tenure and broad experience at the NIH will ensure that the agency is in capable hands and serve it well during the search for Dr. Collins’ successor,” Secretary Becerra said. “Dr. Tabak has a deep grasp of the most pressing scientific issues confronting our nation, he has earned respect across NIH as a thoughtful and strategic manager and is committed to building a healthier and more equitable America.”
Dr. Tabak has served as the principal deputy director and the deputy ethics counselor of NIH since August 2010.
And it appears that Dr. Tabak was more than a deputy ethics counselor. He is a shrewd political animal.
The former “ethics counselor” was mentioned on a just released email between Dr. Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins from October 2020 where they were plotting against a group of doctors who threatened their rule with commonsense treatment plan to the coronavirus.
Fauci, Francis and Tabak did not want to hear it and decided to wage war on the doctors instead!
