Democrat Senator Manchin on Sunday said he “cannot vote” for Joe Biden’s Marxist “Build Back Broke” bill.
“When you have these things coming at you the way they are right now … I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation,” Manchin said on “Fox News Sunday.”
Manchin said he spoke with Biden, Schumer and Pelosi but couldn’t reach an agreement because of ongoing inflation, the national debt and the Covid pandemic.
“This is a no,” The West Virginia Senator said. “I have tried everything I know to do.”
The White House blasted Manchin in a statement Sunday afternoon and blamed him for the impending wave of child poverty after Biden rescued the children.
“Senator Manchin will have to explain to those families paying $1,000 a month for insulin why they need to keep paying that, instead of $35 for that vital medicine,” the statement read.
The White House also said Manchin “can explain to the millions of children who have been lifted out of poverty, in part due to the Child Tax Credit, why he wants to end a program that is helping achieve this milestone – we cannot.”
“We will find a way to move forward next year,” the White House concluded.
