Donald Trump slammed the Biden administration for showing 'weakness' on China, claiming the communist country no longer respects the U.S. with President Joe Biden at the helm.
'China respected this country when I was president,' Trump told Fox News in a report published Tuesday. 'China does not respect our country any more. It is very sad.'
Biden had his second phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping in September, in which the White House said the president 'made clear' the U.S. is committed to an 'ongoing effort to responsibly manage the competition between the United States and the PRC [People's Republic of China].'
Since the call, the White House has repeated its commitment to 'welcoming stuff competition' with the communist nation, adding that on the call 'the two leaders discussed the responsibility of both nations to ensure competition does not veer into conflict.'
Trump, however, doesn't like Biden's strategy.
'I don't think it is a good way to express it to China,' the former president told Fox. 'It shows such weakness. We have shown such weakness.'
'And even that message – that's not a good message,' he said of the Biden stance on relations with China.
He added: 'It's not an appropriate message.'

The Biden administration has warned of the 'reality [China]... has rapidly become more assertive.' They also realize the nation is capable of 'combining its economic, diplomatic, military and technological power to mount a sustained challenge to a stable and open international system.'
China, officials warned, is the only competitor that could mount a 'challenge' to the international system.
Evidence of that is the CIA announcing last month the formation of the China Mission Center.
The agency's Director William Burns said the center will counter and address the challenges posed by China's government.
The White House said in a September call between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Biden, the two nations recommitted to competition and vowed it would not 'veer into conflict'
In an earlier report from a Trump interview with Fox, the former president also said he would have left a troop presence at the Bagram Air Base upon the withdrawal from Afghanistan – warning that the Biden administration has left the area up for China's taking.
Trump signed in January 2020 a Phase 1 trade agreement with China that included commitments from Beijing to stop currency manipulation and intellectual property theft from the U.S.
It also includes cooperation in financial service and a vow to buy $200 billion in U.S. products during 2020 and 2021.
Toward the end of the Trump administration, intelligence officials warned China still posed a grave national security threat – despite the agreement the then-president reached with Xi.
