'They watched me get naked': Woman shares her outrage after discovering a CAMERA pointed at her dressing room while she was trying on clothes at a store in a California mall

An outraged woman is warning others to be aware of their surroundings after she discovered a ceiling camera pointed at her private dressing room while she was trying on clothes.

Nallely Valencia, 27, shared a TikTok video of what appeared to be a security camera reflected in the mirror in her fitting room at the Windsor store in Vintage Faire Mall in Modesto, California.

'I know I’m not trippen & this is absolutely not allowed [sic],' she captioned the clip, which has been viewed more than 642,000 times.

She circled the camera in red and zoomed in on it, writing: 'Wow I'm so mad. I literally noticed when I was putting my clothes back on.'

'You mean to tell me they watched me get naked,' she added in the text overlay.

Windsor replied to Valencia's video in the comments, insisting that the camera was not filming her while she was trying on clothes.

'We want to reassure you that this camera is from the previous brand and is not active,' the brand wrote. 'We're also having it removed permanently.'

A number of people were alarmed by Valencia's video, especially those who had recently tried on clothes at that Windsor location.

'That is so scary and who knows how many people changed and it went unnoticed,' one person wrote, while another added: 'I noticed that in another store. That's why I don't try on clothes anymore.

'Oh hell nah,' someone else commented. 'Def not gunna try clothes on anymore at the mall.'

Others pointed out that Valencia didn't know if the camera was on or where it was directed, claiming she was making a big deal out of nothing.

'Bruh you legit don't even know what way it's pointing,' one TikToker wrote.

'It's very likely that that camera isn't actually facing the changing room,' someone else noted.

California is one of the 13 states that prohibit dressing room surveillance, according to the legal website Dopplr.

In the states that do allow surveillance cameras, the 'monitoring must be done as loss prevention only,' the site explained. 'Any motive other than this is illegal and would cause the store to be fined heavily.'

In a statement shared with DailyMail.com, Windsor stated that the camera was not active and has since been removed.

'The privacy and safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to Windsor Fashions and we are committed to making our stores feel safe,' the brand said. 'The camera in question was installed by a previous store tenant and was not active in any way since Windsor’s opening.

'We permanently removed the non-operational camera in question once it was brought to our attention and sincerely apologize for any concern this may have caused.'

In a follow-up clip, Valencia explained why she felt compelled to share the video.

'I wanted to prevent it from happening to other people,' she said. 'I felt like my privacy was violated, and I just don't want anybody else to feel like that. As a woman, nobody wants to get their privacy violated.'

She noted that Winsor's claim that the camera was not active did little to reassure her that her privacy was protected.

'Whether they're working or not, that is not acceptable. What guarantees me that they don't have the recording of me?' she asked. 'I am just letting you guys from one woman to another woman, be careful.'

Valencia shared in a third video that someone from Windsor's corporate office had reached out to her to 'assure' her that the camera wasn't working.

'I mean, obviously, they are going to say that,' she said. 'I don't have the guarantee that they really weren't working.'

She added that the brand 'humiliated' her by sending her a 30 percent off voucher in the wake of her complaint.

'I've been reaching out to lawyers,' she claimed, promising to share future updates.
