President Biden's approval rating in the key battleground of Iowa has plunged to 31 per cent, according to a recent poll.
Data published by the Des Moines Register yesterday found that the proportion of people who support the President in Iowa had tumbled by 12 per cent in the last three months.
While his disapproval rating in the state has also seen continued growth, rising to 62 per cent - up 10 per cent on three months before.
Iowa has always been a hotly contested swing state, though the Republican party has seen greater success in recent years.

President Obama secured the state during his campaigns in 2008 and 2012.
However, President Trump secured the state during his presidential run in 2016 before holding the state against Biden last year.
Speaking about the results in the recent poll, J. Ann Selzer, who ran the data collection, said: 'This is a bad poll for Joe Biden, and it's playing out in everything that he touches right now.'
According to the Des Moines Register poll, President Biden has not seen a positive return in the state since March this year when his approval rating was 47 per cent.
Having broken down their data, the Register shows that among Republican voters, Biden's approval rating stands at four per cent.

While amongst Democrat voters it stands at 86 per cent.
Compared to his predecessors, Biden's approval rating is below average, with the President now sitting below Trump's lowest ever polling in the state.
Though he still comfortably ahead of George W. Bush's position in 2008, who polled at 25 per cent.
Biden's latest approval ratings in Iowa reflect the state's attitude towards his handling of both the Afghanistan and Covid-19 pandemic.
The poll found that just 22 per cent of Iowa residents believe Biden handled the evacuation of Afghanistan effectively.

And approval of his Covid policy has also dipped in the state to just 36 per cent - a decline of 17 points since June.
It comes after a recent Fox News poll released on Sunday showed that 54 per cent of registered voters think that the country has become more divided since Biden took office on and 37 per cent say the country has become 'more united.'
Only 7 per cent of 1,002 respondents believe there has been no change from when Donald Trump was in the White House and after Biden took over – and 3 per cent say they don't know.
Biden used the word 'unity' eight times in his inauguration speech and vowed to bring the country together and close the divisions in society that Democrats claim were created by Trump when he was president.
The question in the poll comes as Biden faces a slew of criticism on several fronts, like his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, the raging southern border crisis and his failure to get booster shots approved by mid-September like previously promised.
While American voters are not impressed with Biden's follow through on unity, a simple majority feel he cares about 'people like you.' That number, however, is slipping from 56 per cent in October 2020 to 51 per cent now.
This shift, according to the Fox survey, is mostly attributed to a 15-point dip among independent voters.
When it comes to different issues, Biden ranks most high for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic with an approval of 55 per cent to 44 per cent disapproval – a largely unchanged figure from the same poll question in August.
