Moment victim pulls a gun on his would-be attackers and shoots them in the legs during brazen Los Angeles robbery

The moment a victim shot his two would-be attackers in the legs during a brazen Los Angeles robbery on Monday was caught on surveillance video.

The video shows the male victim standing with two women while holding a shopping bag near Melrose Avenue and Vista Street when a Dodge Avenger reversed toward them and the two robbers jumped out of the car around 7:10 p.m. on Monday.

One of the assailants then pulls out a handgun and points it at the man while the two women flee, the shocking video shows.

The male victim then pulls his own weapon from his pocket and shoots at the robbers at least four times while dropping his shopping bag and turning to run in the opposite direction.

The failed robbers' apparent getaway driver then turns to drive off without them as the two assailants then scatter.

'Words were apparently exchanged, and the victim ultimately produces a handgun, apparently to defend himself and others in his group from the would-be robbery suspects,' the Los Angeles Police Department said in a press release.

'The victim fired his weapon towards the suspects and then all parties immediately fled the location.'

The Los Angeles Police Department said on Wednesday that the two suspects have been arrested - though cops are still searching for their driver.

Cops are also asking for the public's help in identifying the robbery victim and finding any witnesses who might have seen the failed robbery attempt.

Nicholas Brown, 22, and Markeil Hayes, 28, were arrested for attempted robbery, cops said on Wednesday.

Brown, who is currently on parole for another conviction, suffered a gun shot wound to his upper left thigh.

Hayes, who is also currently on parole, suffered a gun shot wound to the right calf.
