Never forget the names of the fauxservatives who wouldn't ban the murder of babies when they could

Charles James Napier knew people like the "I'm pro-life but" celebrity fauxservatives currently clutching their pearls in reaction to Alabama's heroic and merciful legislation to end the plague of baby murder in America once and for all.
Gotta love this big tent GOP!
The bill — which was signed by the patriarchal governor ... er ... I mean ... a cool chick named Kay Ivey — bans all child killings except if the mother's life is in danger, allows no exceptions for pregnancies caused by rape or incest, makes it a felony for a fake doctor to murder babies, and is meant as an explicit challenge to Roe v. Wade.
It's otherwise known as the sort of uncompromising and unapologetic approach to fighting baby murder that I've been advocating for my entire public life.
And now, at the time the pro-life movement is finally authoring real legislation to cast out this demonic stronghold over the culture once and for all, "I'm pro-life but" celebrity fauxservatives are lining up to let cable news bookers know they're not as primitive as those folks who believe "thou shall not murder" is a commandment and not a mere suggestion.
I'd name them, but they are legion (see what I did there?). It would take an entire column to call them out. Besides, I don't have to. They're naming themselves just fine. They don't believe an absolute truth, but absolute popularity. Not to mention, when you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one you hit.
That's why I like Charles James Napier so much. He was a 19th century British general and colonial governor of what is now Pakistan. When confronted with the native people's desire to burn the widows of the men who had recently died, he considered what was to them a long-held “mainstream" belief and then responded this way:
Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.
God bless him. And God bless all those who will now seize this moment in the fight against one of the worst genocides in human history by refusing to let these "I'm pro-life but" fauxservatives get way with the most preposterous and wicked equivocations.
If you claim you are pro-life but think banning baby murder is uncivilized, then you are the barbarian.
The tide is turning on this issue like I've never seen before. Do your part to make sure that continues. Don't accept lies. Don't accept excuses. Don't accept cowardice.
And when the battle is won, never forget the names of those who never joined it.
