Resident finds burglary suspect in apartment. Burglary suspect learns the hard way you never know who's armed with a gun.

Birmingham police say a burglary suspect was taken to Children's of Alabama after being shot by a resident at Crestview Apartments. Police shared the following update with WVTM 13:
"A homeowner arrived home in the 2800 block of Temple Crest Drive and located a burglary suspect inside his home. There was an altercation and the home owner shot the suspect. The suspect has a non life threatening injury. No injuries to the home owner. The suspect has been transported to the hospital for treatment and will remain in custody." 
Birmingham police tonight are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex on Temple Crest Drive.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot at Crestview Apartments around 9 p.m. According to fire officials, a male was taken to Children's of Alabama with non-life threatening injuries. The age of the victim is unknown at this time.
Police said it appears the victim was shot inside one of the apartments.
Detectives are questioning a person at the scene. No word yet if any arrests have been made.
