WATCH: Footage Shows What Happened At U.S.-Canada Bridge In Niagara Falls

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released footage Wednesday evening showing what happened with a car that exploded at a checkpoint in Niagara Falls at the U.S.-Canada border.

With the threat of Islamic terrorism elevated throughout the U.S. due to the war in the Middle East, there were early suspicions that the incident was some sort of an attack.

Those fears were exacerbated by a reporter who claimed that sources told her the incident was an “attempted terrorist attack” and that the car was “full of explosives.”

However, multiple law enforcement officials have said that there were no indications that the incident had anything to do with terrorism.

“Based on what we know at this moment, and again anything can change, there is no sign of terrorist activity with respects to this crash,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

CBP released a video of the vehicle traveling at a very high rate of speed when it hit a median and went flying before it later exploded.

FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia said at a news conference that there was no indication that the incident was related to terrorism.

“We do not have any derogatory information on this person that we’ve identified, we’re scanning his social media, there’s nothing there, we’re still running a full investigation so that’s a preliminary assessment,” Miraglia said. “We feel, at this point, this might be just something that occurred, there’s no larger picture here to look at for now.”
