‘2024 Election Is In Great Trouble’: Rep. Jayapal Tells Psaki It’s Time To Hit The Panic Button Over Biden

Democratic Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal said President Joe Biden appears to be in big trouble in the upcoming 2024 presidential election during a Sunday interview with former White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

Jayapal said young Muslim and Arab Americans feel underrepresented over Biden’s support for Israel as war continues to rage in the Middle East. Many young, left-wing activists have protested in support of Palestine by blaming Israel for the ongoing conflict and shouting antisemitic slurs such as “from the river to the sea” and “Allahu Akbar.”

“I think it is important to recognize that we have a very divided country, as you well know. You have said that polls really don’t reflect where people are, I agree with you,” Jayapal told Psaki. “But I will tell you this is the first time, Jen, that I have felt like the 2024 election is in great trouble for the president and for our Democratic control, which is essential to moving forward, because these young people — Muslim Americans, Arab Americans, but also young people — see this conflict as a moral conflict and a moral crisis. And they are not going to be brought back to the table easily if we do not address this.”

Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the White House on Saturday evening and wrenched the gate as they waved Palestinian flags and chanted “Allahu Akbar.” Authorities arrested one person as the crowds vandalized properties with antisemitic graffiti on several public buildings, according to Fox News.

The Biden administration has expressed solidarity with Israel and defended its right to defend itself following the brutal Oct. 7 attack by Hamas, an Islamic terrorist organization in control of Gaza. The attack left at least 1,400 dead in Israel, including more than 30 Americans, and led to the murder, rape and kidnapping of innocent civilians.

Young members of the Democratic Party have threatened to withhold their support for Biden in the 2024 election over his support for Israel.

“I feel very betrayed by Biden,” Angela Balya, a 28-year-old who attended a pro-Palestine protest in Manhattan, told The New York Times. “I definitely will not be voting for him again.”

“If the Democratic Party and President Biden continue to send weapons and military support to Israel, it threatens to lose our generation, and that’s a very dangerous choice to make ahead of a critical election year,” Michele Weindling said. Weindling serves as political director of the Sunrise Movement, a climate activist group that supported Biden’s presidential campaign in 2020.

Pro-Palestinian protesters also gathered outside of Vice President Kamala Harris’ private home in California and chained themselves to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office building in San Francisco to protest support for Israel.
